The Boracay Halloween Party

A Travel Blog made in the Philippines can't be complete without a post about Boracay. This island in the Visayas is known the world over for it's pristine white sand beaches, pale blue crystal waters and very hospitable locals. It's all true, and truer if you're actually there already.

What most people miss about Boracay is that it also hosts world class parties. During Holy Week for example (around March to April), the place is packed with partygoers looking to open up the summer with a bang. The party scene happens roughly 3 times a year - New Year's,Holy Week and Halloween.



Last November,2007, I was in Boracay to parteke in such a party. There were different events everynight at different bars around the island. The scene is surreal and the atmosphere pure fun. It was as if people just left their inhibitons in the city before they arrived. Some even came with costumes.



Perhaps the bestthing about all of this is that when you wake up, porbably hung over, you still wake up in a very beutiful place. They mythical white powdery sand, the cool waters, the smiling faces, they're all there.





And when you leave the island, that's when you'll get the real hang-over. The one that says: "I don't want to go back to the city."
